Is anyone using either of these? If so which is the better option?

I see the difference between watts is more then double (90w for 380, 40w for 160). Is that better? Worse?

I like the adjustments on the 160. Just not sure if it will be "better" then what I have. I have a cheap 36watt grow LED from Amazon.

Is Kessils watt rating more accurate? Or I guess lighting differnt
Any input appreciated, thanks

II have the H380 and it has out performed every other light I have tried on my refugium. I did not try the 160 though.

Side note- I love my kessil 360, and seriously disappointed in my kessil 80s.
Come to a meeting, they’re fun!

Kevin.st- that is comparing the 80,380, and 1200. The 160 only came out a few months ago

Krazie- what size is your refugium?

Adam- that is good to know.

My refugium is about 20 gallons. I have to mount the light fairly high as it is tons of light for my fuge.

That's my question....

My sump is only about 16"x16"x12"deep. The 380 says its recommended size is 24"x24" with 3' penetration. The H160 says recommended(by BRS) 18"x18".

Talking with someone on R2R, they said that h80 should be for anything 8"x8" or under, the h160 should be for anything 14"x14" or under. Anything over would be the H380

So I dont want to buy the H160,and it not have the power I need. Dont want to buy the H380, and it be too much power. It's a gamble so to say, just trying to do some research before the plunge

I always error on the side of being too much and having to mount it higher or tune it down over being under sized and not having enough light after just spending the money on a fixture.

I am using an H380 and I love it. It works way better than the 120 watt ebay light I had on it before. My cheato grows so fast now. I always love taking out huge chunks of the stuff knowing that the nutrients are all leaving with it. But... I do have it on a 180 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump (18x18 fuge). I know that for some people the h380 takes out too many nutrients and they end up cutting back on the hours that the light is on in order to not starve out their corals.  If you think that you just want a better light on the refugium the 160 might be a good option for you. You could just use it for a longer amount of time if you needed to.
