FragFest is BACK!!!

Join us Thursday, June 1st at 7pm at the Rose Garden Building for our June FragFest.

6/1 at 7pm
Rose Garden Building
Sugar House Park
1601 East 2100 South
Salt Lake City, UT

We will have all kinds of fantastic coral frags for sale as well as some beautiful colonies in our auction tank.  We are doing things a bit different this year.

We will be Fragging the coral locally to give them extra time to heal and to get pictures out of each coral we are bringing.  Keep an eye out for updates if you are interested in assisting.

We are also doing something different this time as well, we will have all corals in frag tanks.  We will have 3 frag tanks

  • 1 - $10 dollar tank.  All corals in this tank will be just $10 dollars ($5 if you are a paid member).
  • 1 - $20dollar tank.  All corals in this tank will be just $20 dollars ($10 if you are a paid member).
  • 1 - $30 dollar tank.  All corals in this tank will be just $30 dollars ($15 if you are a paid member).

We will have Presidency helping to bag up your selections.  We will form a line and you can pick a coral from whatever tank you like and then get back in line for another coral.

We think this will be a lot of fun and gives you a better chance to see the coral you want to get.

As always we will have our auction colonies that you can bid on.

If you donate a coral to the Fragfest you will get a 2 min head start!  Donations are appreciated.

We will be bringing the bbq's to roast some hot dogs.  We will have some sides and drinks as well.

See you in June!

We have teamed up with Rusty's Reefs to get HOT corals for our June Frag Fest.  Check out the colonies below that we will be fragging.  You can check them out yourself at Rusty's up until Thursday June 1st when we bring them to the meeting.

We will have a few others as well.

Rusty's Reef's

The coral order is going in today so we should have some pictures soon to show what will be available. We are working hard to bring a variety of corals in instead of lots of the same pieces.

We heard your request and we are trying to make it work. We can't wait to see everyone there to get in on some of these amazing pieces!

For those of us just 1 week into cycling our first tank.  It would be best to wait until the next frag party right?  Best to have the tank running for a month or two first right?

No such thing as buying a couple to pick up a couple weeks after right? haha

We will have free hotdogs so there is that!

We will have this event next week and also our Frag Stock in November (this is where we will fill the room with awesome corals from coral vendors.  Each monthly event we also work to have coral vendors on hand.  If you aren't able to add corals you can still come stop by and say hello!

Definitely planning on coming!  Our first month into the hobby right now and my wife wants to join the club.

Is frag stock similar to this event price wise or is it the higher end pricey corals?

Our June FragFest is fast approaching. As we did in January we are trying something different. We are working with LFS to get in corals for the event. Our goal is to mix it up each event. We will also have the frags available in a frag tank so you can see.

Our LFS partner for June is Rustys Reefs. Rusty has sold us some awesome corals. They will be in full display in one of his tanks soon so you can preview before next weeks event. I will have more pictures coming this weekend but check out this preview.

Keep checking for more details.

We will be doing frags from these exact colonies and more!

FragStock will definitely have more higher end corals (but some really good prices too, great variety of coral)

You are getting a great deal on the corals we have (especially as paid members) at the FragFest, we have some really nice stuff coming in.  I will be updating even more pictures on Friday.

Multiple colors of Mushrooms, Some really bright Zoa's (gobstoppers and Armor of gods), Some huge Blundell Button Paly's, Blastos, plus all the stuff in the pictures. I'm pretty sure that this selection will cover everything from the Softies, to LPS, to SPS, to higher end pieces. There is a ton! You won't want to miss this one!

Thanks Dennis!

It might look something like this!

Ok, Some changes to the rules for everyone to be aware of tonight.

Donations: For anyone that is making a donation, there will be a table that you can drop off your donated corals. The corals will be evaluated based on type and value to determine which of the frag tanks they are best suited for($10, $20 or $30). Based on the donation(s) along with the valuations of the coral, you will be given up to 2 tickets. On each ticket will be an identifier which indicates the tank(s) ($10, $20 or $30) you will be allowed to purchase from during Early Entry. Tickets may be combined to allow for shopping in the other tanks (I.E two $10 tickets can be used to get you into the $20 tank). However, combining two $20 tickets to get into the $30 tank will lower the value of the combined tickets to $30. This event we have set a maximum of 2 Early Entry tickets per household. Early Entry will allow you to start shopping 2 minutes before everyone else. After the 2 minutes, everyone else will be allowed to come in and start lining up at the frag tanks to make their choices.

Viewing of the corals: We will allow you to preview coral up until 6:45pm, after that we will close the viewing area and it will not be reopened until the general frag fest begins and the early entry time has expired.

This changes things up a bit from our norm but we think it will improve the flow and encourage donations. Feel free to drop any questions here in the thread and we will answer them for you. We are looking forward to tonight! We hope to see you all there!

If you missed this one we feel for you. It was pretty epic. So many corals they wouldn't all fit in the tanks. Auction pieces that were anywhere from amazing to absolute collectors pieces!

We did start a little late but those that stuck it out with us were fed and provided an amazing assortment of corals to pick from!

If you went and picked up some pieces, post some pics of your new pick ups in here. We would love to see what you got and also hear your thoughts.

Thanks Everyone who pitched in to help setup, take down, or just be part of this event!

Keep your eyes open for more information on the paid member BBQ coming up on Aug. 12th! Not a paid member? Contact us and we can tell you how to change that. You can also become a paid member at the BBQ!
