Irish,

I always thought he did have an degree in Marine Biology because of the descriptions given on the MAX, MACNA, 120 gallon reef podcast and many other sites were it states that he does.

I just asked where he got his degree because if there is a way to do it locally, I would be interested.

Come on guys. It doesn't matter who has a degree or not! Adam is very knowlegable for sure and he has done more for this club than anyone will ever know.
He is for sure an asset to this club and to the reefing community.
Sorry for my spelling. I don't have a degree!!!
Just my 2 cents

This is great!  Love it!

It's funny how people make quick jumps to conclusions or get all worked up about things they don't know.
Hey Goonter- you can see how different degrees play into different fields... like I told you last night.  Wink

Yep my Masters is in PRT- the Environmental Natural Resource emphasis.  My Bachelors is in Biology, with an emphasis on Marine Ecosystems.  In order to get my degree I had to go to school overseas and have the U here sponsor those classes.  It was a lot of extra work to do the whole design your own program of study... but I'm glad I did it.

Adam
ps- definitely considered a marine biologist... at least to the people paying my bills LOL
Come to a meeting, they’re fun!

Oh, I forgot to mention... I also have other certifications like in clinical pathology.  Figure that one out.  It's kind of weird how all my degrees come together... if anyone wants to hear the long story come on over sometime to chat and I'll buy pizza.

Adam

Nice witch hunt here. Funny that Crystal would do such research- as if it matters.

Is the field of marine biology regulated? Probably not.

My field is. I can't advertise as a "structural engineer" in Utah unless I actually have a professional structural engineering license- it's otherwise illegal. (I am licensed, so I advertise as such.) Is it illegal to say that you're an expert at something if it's not regulated? Ethically, it would be fine if you have something to back it up, and that something doesn't always include school.

I think the premise of some of this thread is ridiculous. I always find it funny what is written versus what you would dare say to someone's face without being rude.

I love Achilles tangs. The orange and black contrast is so appealing. It is one of my goals in life to own an Achilles tang. I also like Chevrons and Red Sea Sailfins. The other sailfins just don't cut it for me... But you know what my all time favorite fish is? My Spotted Mandarin Fish. His name is Lung Yu. It means Green Dragon in Chinese (as far as I know, I had my brother in law translate it.)    If you guys want to see some pictures of my jellies and my reef tank, just check out my blog:

I'll be posting lots of cool stuff on this site so ya best follow along.

Here it is guys, If you are gonna bitch at each other, make a thread that says "Argument Thread" or "Argument Forum" then I can not waste my time reading posts on threads about coral or careers or fish that really aren't about what they say they are. Like this one for example. I asked who had a degree? You either do or you do not. Are you qualified to answer my question about career and school choices or not? If you aren't, then scamper off, if you are then call me up and we can chat. Simple.

I find it to be very relevant since the way adams credentials listed on every speaker list and every article written to say adam blundell- MS marine biologist... He has built a business upon a lie. I researched it because I wanted the facts and not hersay... So don't bash on me for looking into it.. Adam has been asked numerous times and always states that his degree is in marine biology. Good luck in your search I do know ACTUAL marine biologists and they both went to BGSU in ohio (bowling green state university) which has an excellent program.

Adam, If you do have a degree, then let's chat about what you do for a living, how I can make a living and support my four kids and wife. Now please understand that this is NOT A CRITICISM, but if you do not, then I really don't have the time of day to waste. If you work in the marine biology field doing experiments and you fly out to the reefs and collect samples and test levels or you are working with Sea world and helping them keep their live stock alive and stuff like that, Then we should talk. If you are not actively involved in the marine biology world then let me go find someone else who is. I honestly don't care who I talk to, I just want to figure out what schools, where, how much, and how quickly I can get a career.   Again, keep in mind that I am not making judgments on any of you who say he does or doesn't have a degree, I'm not saying Adam does or does not have a degree, and I'm not trying to start a fight, I just really want to know what I have to do to get a good paying job working with fish, corals, and reefs. So I am inviting any of you who write articles, any of you who sell fish or corals, any of you who own fish stores, work for marine labs, make fish tanks, or just work at a LFS to send me a PM so we can talk about my options.   I've been a Nurse Assistant for the past SEVERAL years and I'm sick of working graveyards getting paid jack to take crap from people who are pissed off and having a bad day. I want to do something that I love and can enjoy. This is one thing that I enjoy very much. My other considerations are Aviation, Regular ol' Bio-Chemistry, Business Management, and college level teaching of sciences or art. If you don't have anything good to say, please, post your comment somewhere else.

UVU said they would contact me with information about other programs and options that I had, and it's been several months.
