Was running some tests as usual on the tank last night and my DKH (carbonate hardness) seemes to be out of wack. . . . Tank param's as follows:

PH: 8.2
Calcium: 380
Phosphorous: 0
Nitrates: undtectable
MG: 1400
Alk: 9
Carbonate Hardness (DKH): 20 Confused
Temp: 77.5

My alk had been low for some time, I started dosing SeaChem Alk buffer slowly but it appears it has jacked my DKH, I plan on doing a water change tonight but is a carbonate hardness of 20 gonna hurt anything?

Not going to hurt anything imo.  But it's not likely that your alk is really that high AND your calcium at 380 ppm.  Regardless, a water change is always good.

I will check my numbers when I get home and let you all know.  I'm just glad to know it wont hurt anything.

Ermm Alk at 9 and dKH at 20. I don't think so. Those are the same thing. Assuming you posted both numbers you probably have two different brand test kits. What kits are they? One of them is wrong and we can guess which one.LOL

Why didn't you just use baking Soda?
