Topic: I built this! Posted: April 23 2004 at 12:17pm |
I am soooo proud! I finished our fish room! I did framing and wiring and hanging and sanding and drilling and laying and pounding and routing and staining (Rob did the painting!) and designing and planning and researching DIY.com! Turns out, I still hate drywall!! Anyway, it took me all winter to do it, but it's done! Check it out in the gallery.... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<< !!! Next year, I'm taking out some walls upstairs!!!! No one can stop me now!!!(Except Rob, AKA Mr Reasonable "Will you just calm down?") I've gone home improvement crazy!!!

Awesome Suzy. I need to come and see it again now that it is finished.
You have inspired me to get some work done on my house. I'll get going on that right away.

Wow, that was a lot of work! I just hooked up a uv sterilizer without hurting myself, or the dogs! It was lots easier than trying to do the plumbing for the whole tank. Woohoo! Alas, I managed to accidently stir up a cloud in the refugium sand. Only for a second! But now the whole system is cloudy. My poor fishes!

P.S., Suzy - - if you take out walls, you have to do drywall-type repairs to the remaining walls (the ones that used to connect to a wall, but now would have a rough edge). Plus painting and/or wallpaper. Oh, and the little runner boards along the bottom of the wall.

Thanks, guys!! Ryan, I can build anything! it just takes me a lonnnng time! (I can't do anything car related, though, 'cause it gets my hands too grubby!) Renee, I think patching the drywall won't be half as bad as hanging it, but I'll still have to sand the cruddy mud! That crap gets everywhere! But, I found out late in the basement project, you can just rub off the crap with a wet towel! You only have to sand the last time! I like the trim part. I've got a really cool router to make the baseboard, the chair rail and the crown molding. That part doesn't suck!!! But, it is time consuming! And, I am so off wallpaper. BEAD BOARD RULES!!!

Jared, a party sounds so fun! Maybe, I can talk Rob into opening up the bar, and mixing up something exotic! I'm getting him a drink recipe book for Dad's Day!

I do tons of drywall all the time suzy, and guess what, I hate it far more than you could imagine. But the sponge smoothing method is a lot cleaner I agree. Beautiful work BTW, The tile arrangement is particularly cool, Great job and congrats on reaching the finish line.

Great job Suzy!
Now, when can I and my wife come over to see it again? I want to see the ghost and brine shrimp and the tile!
BTW, I sent you a pm earlier.

Suzy, I just have to add my 2 cents and say that you have done an excellent job. I can hope to do that good once I finish my basement. What was it you said? A blonde with power tools...

Here is a pic of what Suzy has done. It's a nice room. And here's a pic of her long awaited Sea Horses. It doesn't surprise me that a halo appeared on one of Suzy's cherished Sea Horses!

That halo is on Mr Big! Thanks for the pics, Mark. And I fixed the white water issue in the reef! I wrapped the pumps with sponge!
